OPPC optical cable
OPPC optical cables commonly have 8/12/16/24/36/48 cores, and specific configurations can be customized according to customer requirements. Optical Fiber Composite Phase Conductor (OPPC) is special type of power cable with dual functions of overhead phase conductors and optical fiber communication. The structural type of OPPC is similar to that of conventional phase conductors. One or more steel wires in the conventional phase conductors are replaced with optical fiber-containing optical unit. The optical unit and aluminum - clad steel wires or aluminum-alloy-clad steel wires jointly form the conductor. Therefore, it has dual functions of phase - conducting and communication, making up for the situation where there is no space for installing overhead ground wires but communication is needed in newly - built power grid lines. There are mainly two types: central tube type and layer - stranded type.
